This Parker designed house in Morningside, Miami is a project that I have been involved in since 2004. This is the ongoing restoration of a modern residence owned by Mr. and Mrs. Allen Brody. The Brodys have a passion for architecture, design, and art among other things. They purchased this property with the intent of restoring it, and living in it.

    The house was in significant disrepair, and was in need of full restoration. Along with a faithful restoration, the Brodys wanted to upgrade the house with certain modern advancements. They have a true commitment to preservation as well as the environment. Mrs. Brody was very specific about many of the details of the restoration. Strict guidelines were laid out as to what materials would be used, as well as what processes. As much of the original materials were used as possible, and any new materials were carefully selected, and fabricated to original specs.

   Unfortunately, the previous owner had neglected the property, and wood rot as well as termite infestation had taken place. This was the core of the restoration phase. The photos don’t show it, but a ton of work has been done to this house prior to the upgrades.

In the following pages you will see the many wonderful changes that took place. Hopefully, I will find some photos of the house “ Pre restoration”. Until then, there are only current photos.
